For example a 100 to 250 square feet room will need an air conditioner of 5000 to 6000 BTU. Some other factors that have to be kept in mind are the number of people occupying the room, the number of windows in the room, exposure of the sun and the average insulation. Where to place the air conditioner? Comfort should be the main criteria when you are planning to install to your air conditioner. It would be a good idea to install it in the bedroom though some people do not prefer a cool place to sleep in.

You can also place it in the drawing room or the family room where everyone will be able to feel its effect. The air conditioner has to be installed properly in the window. This would be a prime concern because if it is not secured properly it can invite intruders and you can lose your valuables.
